Gold luster refers to an overglaze technique in ceramics where gold particles suspended in a specialized liquid are painted onto an already kiln-fired ceramic ware. The ware is then kiln-fired again, which vaporizes all suspension particles in the paint, leaving behind pure, 22k gold. The effect is sparkling, magical, and 100% food safe. This technique is not commonly seen commercially for a few reasons: the cost of gold is relatively high compared to other ceramic supplies, and it is time-intensive as application requires specialized equipment and a separate, additional kiln-firing.
One-of-a-kind
Each porcelain ware is built by hand, using slab, coil, or wheel-thrown methods. Porcelain surfaces are hand-illustrated, and hand-painted for a truly unique, one of one, finished piece.

ILLUSTRATION & PAINTING PROCESS
Designs are sketched with pencil on bisque (half-fired) porcelain, which acts as a guide for painting. Pencil is burned away during firing.
Ceramic underglaze paint is applied using traditional canvas painting techniques, which transform to a glass-shiny, 100% food safe coating during kiln firing.
